[Audio] Ayanfuri Shooting: Denkyira Youth demand justice for deceased

Concerned Denkyira Youth for Justice(DYfJ), a community based group is demanding justice for two persons who died at Ayanfuri in the Upper Denkyira West District of the Central Region following a clash between the youth of the town and members of the Operation Vanguard, last Thursday.

The clash was said to have been fuelled by the arrest of two youth in the area by the Operation Vanguard team for allegedly engaging in illegal mining, which did not go down well with the youth.

Speaking in an interview with Happy FM’s Joseph Nii Ankrah, convenor of the group, Ali Halid called on the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to investigate the matter by setting up a committee. “The Officers who perpetrated the act are paid by tax-payers money so if all the citizens are shot and killed, who will they protect or who will they demand taxes from to pay them. The president must set up a committee to investigate this and the culprits must be called upon to apologise for their action and also face the law.”

He added that, if the government fails to honour their request, they will organizer series of demonstration until their grievances are addressed.

The names of the deceased were given as Kweku Adjei and Fabio.
