The Director-General for the National Sports Authority (NSA), Professor Peter Twumasi, says the authority is working to ensure that the National Cross country marathon becomes a national event.
This year’s edition took place in the Western North Region on Saturday, February 20 and was raced under theme 2021 National Cross Country race under the theme “Combating COVID-19 with Sports and Exercise”.
The one-day event saw about 200 athletes drawn from the 16 regions of Ghana taking part in the national race.
Speaking in an interview on Wamputu Sports with Odiasempa Kwame Oware, Professor Peter Twumasi stated the NSA is working towards an event which will be held across the various districts.
“This National Cross Country event is what starts the Sporting calendar every year. Our target is to make sure that every district organizes this event so it becomes a national event”.
“The Ghana Athletics Association are also our partners in this event. We want to unearth talents from the grassroots levels for the various national federations through this event”, he added.
