The Western North Regional branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has issued a fiery response to what it describes as a calculated campaign of misinformation by the New Patriotic Party (NPP), vowing to decisively counter all propaganda and restore public trust in governance.
At a press conference held at the partyโs regional office in Sefwi Wiawso the Regional Chairman of the NDC, Michael Aidoo, condemned the NPPโs alleged orchestration of โmalicious disinformation,โ which he said is aimed at tarnishing the image of government officials and derailing development efforts.
Michael Aidoo accused the NPP of actively circulating falsehoods through discredited social media pages and unverified online portals. According to him, these attacks are not ordinary political strategies, but dangerous actions designed to sabotage progress and democracy in the region.
โWe have observed with concern the rising tide of malicious fabrications, doctored stories, and baseless allegations being peddled by the NPPโฆ These are acts of sabotage, aimed at distracting hardworking public officials and undermining public trust,โ he stated.
He cited two recent incidents as clear examples of this propaganda. The first involved a false claim that the Western North Regional Minister, Willbert Petty Brentum, was engaged in illegal mining activities.
Big Aidoo affirmed that an independent investigation proved the allegations were โcompletely false, politically motivated, and intended to damage his image.โ
The second incident involved a viral video that attempted to implicate the Suaman District Chief Executive (DCE), Vasco Obour, in galamsey operations using government earth-moving equipment. Aidoo dismissed the video as another โdeceptive and manufactured product of the NPPโs propaganda machinery.โ
Reaffirming the NDC’s commitment to progress, Aidoo called on the people of the Western North Region and Ghanaians at large to remain calm and confident in the leadership of President John Dramani Mahama.
โWe will not be distracted by lies. We will not slow down because of propaganda. Instead, we will continue to build roads, create jobs, improve education, and fight illegal mining in a structured and fair manner,โ he assured.
He praised the dedication and integrity of the Regional Minister, Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs), and all government appointees, assuring the public that the NDC government remains focused on delivering for the people.
The press conference ended with a stern warning to the NPP to halt what the NDC described as anti-government and anti-development tactics.
โWe are peaceful by nature, but we are not passive. We will defend truth, defend progress and defend our leaders,โ Aidoo declared. โThe people of the Western North Region are discerning and will not fall prey to cheap propaganda.โ
He urged the NPP to abandon petty politics and instead present tangible solutions to the challenges facing the nationโchallenges he claimed were worsened under the NPPโs own administration.
Big Aidoo concluded by thanking the people of the Western North Region for their continued support and called on them to remain united and hopeful.
โThe future is bright, and it is within reach,โ he affirmed. โYour loyalty and trust will never be taken for granted.โ
