
Christopher Mbii and Alberta Lomofio emerged as winners for the 2021 MTN Invitational tournament held at the Achimota Golf Course over the weekend.
The two emerged tops over the 100 golfers that participated in the first quarter edition for the year in the men and women’s category.
Mbi won the Men’s Group A with 41 points with a better handicap than second-placed Church Ansah also with 41 points and Mawuli Ababio came up third with 40 points.
Max Prag won the Men’s Group B, followed by Gustav Godoneu and Masina Pascal.
In the Women’s category, Alberta Lomofio placed first with a score of 45 points followed by Jiang Yang with 39 points and Rita Pellegerino came up third with 38 points.
Closest to the pin was won by Edwards Annobil in the men’s category, while L Amponsah Mensah won it in the women’s category.
In the Men Longest drive, Felix Akafo won the prize and Vivian Dick in the women’s category.
Kwesi Senyi won the Men’s Seniors with 41 points and Joy Arkutu took the Ladies Seniors with 35 points.
The Board Chairman for MTN Ghana, Dr Ishmael Yamson during the presentation of the awards congratulated all the winners.
“I would like to conclude by congratulating all the winners of today’s tournament for their demonstration of resilience and tenacity. Better luck to those who did not win. We wish everyone the best in their endeavours”.
Dr Yamson also gave an update on activities being taken by the telecommunication giants in the fight against the COVID-19
“Our support towards the fight against COVID-19 continues unabated. Earlier in the year, MTN Group Partnered African Union’s (AU’s) COVID-19 vaccination program with $25 million to procure Vaccines for Africa. I am happy to say that last Sunday, Ghana received 165,000 AstraZeneca Vaccines for health workers”
He thanked the organizers for staging such a successful event
