2022 Ga Homowo Marathon launched

The maiden edition of the Ga Homowo Marathon has been launched, by the organizers at an event held on Wednesday in the capital.

The event organized by Medivents Consults in partnership with Happy 98.9FM, HD+ and other sponsors is part of activities to mark this year’s Homowo festive celebrations.

The ceremony was graced by the Asere Tsono Mantse who also doubles as a rep. from the Ga Traditional Council.

Speaking at the launch, General Manager for Medivents Consult said, “Our objective is to make the marathon part of the Homowo festival and also serve as an avenue to promote sports and tourism.

“The race will start at Spintex Road and end at the Mantse Agbona.  The Ghana Ambulance Service will be available for the event.

Project Manager Willie Ezar also said the target is to get 1000 athletes to participate in the maiden edition.

“The target is to get 1000 athletes for the marathon. We want it to be one of the best marathons to happen in the capital city”.

The Marketing Manager for HD.+ Mrs Adelaide Abbiw-Williams said they were pleased to associate themselves with the maiden edition of the Homowo Marathon.

The Asere Tsono Mantse thanked Medivent Consult for partnering the Ga Traditional Council to organize the Ga Homow Marathon.

“We the Ga Traditional Council is happy to partner the event. We fully support this historic event to promote peace. This Marathon will help promote the Ga Homowo. We are convinced the race will be successful and a deserving winner will emerge”.

Prizes available are Ghc 10,000 for the winner in both the male and female categories.

Second place will take Ghc 5,000, 3,000, 1,500, 1000, and Gh 500 respectively.
