Ghana’s socio and people oriented radio brand, Happy 98.9 FM will kick start the 2023 edition of its widely recognized inter-zongo cooking competition, the Salah Food Fest in Kasoa on Saturday, May 27, 2023.

The first preliminary contest will see teams from Tuba, Kasoa, Abeka and Sabon zongos compete amongst themselves to determine who represents their community in the final contest.

The Salah Food Fest is an annual cooking contest between zongo communities in the country to foster unity, celebrate Eid al-Adha and display the level of love amongst zongos.

The ultimate winner of the Salah Food Fest will walk away with a big fat cow, products from Tasty Tom, Fortune Rice, Frytol, Bel Aqua, Bel Beverages and Belpack.

Programmes Manager of Happy 98.9 FM, Elwoode Mantey described the Salah Food Fest as a celebration of the various delicacies of zongo communities and the time to display the level of love and unity amongst Muslims.

“There exist misconceptions about zongos in Ghana and the Salah Food Fest is an opportunity to address these. For us at Happy 98.9 FM, Salah Food Fest is an avenue for us to revive and promote the communal spirit in Ghana. We urge all zongo communities in and around Kasoa to come and share in the love and fun tomorrow,” he added.

The Salah Food Fest will begin with intra community contests to select teams to represent each community in the grand finale. The final ten teams will then battle it out for bragging rights and the ultimate prize, a cow and products from sponsors.

Participating communities are; Sabon, Tuba, Abeka, Kasoa, Fadama, Alajo, Madina, Nima, Mamobi and Ashaiman zongos.
