2023 U-23 AFCON: Don’t take your eyes off Moroccan talisman Ez Abde – Yaw Preko cautions Black Meteors

Former Ghana international, Yaw Preko, has advised the Black Meteors not to underrate the Moroccans in their second group game, keeping an eye on their star man, Abdessamad Ezzalzouli who plies his trade for Spanish side FC Barcelona.

Skipper Abdessamad Ezzalzouli was the hero for the home side, converting two second-half penalties to give his team a perfect start at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex in Rabat.

They rallied from a goal down to secure a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Guinea in the opening Group A match of the 2023 U-23 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Speaking ahead of Ghana’s game tonight against Morocco on Happy FM, Yaw Preko was optimistic the Meteors can defeat the Moroccans to be able to book a place in the next round of the tournament.

“I want Ghana to qualify for the Olympic games in Paris because we’ve been absent from the game for a very long time. They should anticipate a tough match though but I don’t see the Moroccans hurting us, we just need to be sharp upfront”.

Super-sub Emmanuel Yeboah’s second-half brace coupled with another from Ernest Nuamah powered Ghana to an explosive start to the 2023 U-23 AFCON after humbling Congo by an emphatic 3-0 at the Prince Moulaye Abdellah Stadium.

They face host nation, Morocco, in their second group game today.

A victory in this match would guarantee the Black Meteors a place in the following round of the competition. However, if they drop points, their destiny will be decided by their last group game.
