The Ministry of the Interior has announced that Good Friday (April 18) and Easter Monday (April 21) will be observed as public holidays nationwide in 2025.

This declaration is in line with the Christian calendar, which designates Easter as a period of significant spiritual reflection and celebration.

Good Friday commemorates the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, while Easter Monday celebrates the joy of His resurrection, following Easter Sunday.

These holidays are widely celebrated in Ghana, where many citizens participate in church activities, travel to their hometowns, or take part in community events.

The Ministry has urged citizens to observe the holidays in accordance with national laws and cultural traditions, emphasizing safety and responsibility during the festivities.

The government has also encouraged the public to make the most of this time of reflection, unity, and celebration while ensuring safety throughout the long weekend.
