Four times African champions, Ghana, has been handed a tough group as the Black Stars have been paired with Uganda, Egypt and Mali in Group D of the 2017 African Cup of Nations to be staged in Gabon.
The Senior national team will face World Cup qualifiers opponents Uganda and Egypt and and familiar West African foes Mali at the tournament which will held early next year.
Coach Avram Grant’s side drew goalless against Uganda earlier this month in their 2018 World Cup qualifying match played in Tamale and are expected to travel to Cairo next month to face the Pharaohs of Egypt.
The Malians last played Ghana at the 2013 AFCON where they beat the Black Stars 3-1 to place third at the competition.
Ghana’s team will be based in l’Ogooué-Maritime and will play all group stage matches at the newly-constructed 25,000 seater capacity Stade de Port-Gentil.
The tournament will be staged from 15 January to 05 February.
Below are the group pairings for the 2017 AFCON:
Group A: Gabon, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Guinea Bissau
Group B: Algeria, Tunisia, Senegal, Zimbabwe
Group C: Ivory coast, DRC, Morocco, Togo
Group D: Ghana, Mali, Egypt and Uganda
