Black Stars Management Committee Member, George Akwesi Afriyie has debunked rumours making rounds that he had an altercation with Avram Grant in the wake of the team’s defeat against Egypt in the 2018 World Cup qualifier.
Happy FM sources intimated that after the Black Stars 2-0 defeat to the Pharaohs of Egypt, a heated argument occurred between George Afriyie and Avram Grant due to disagreement over the latter’s desire to travel to Europe straight from Alexandria.
Afriyie, however, quashed the rumour when interviewed on Happy FM’s Anopa Bosuo sports, “I don’t know where this rumour is emanating from but nothing of that sort happened. How can a gentleman like me do something like that?
“I’m a bit loud so maybe when I was discussing the game, someone may have thought I was angry but no. After the game, all the players retired to their various clubs likewise Avram Grant. I cannot remember having any banter with him.” He added.
