The General manager for Accra Great Olympics Oluboi Commodore says the decision by the National Sports Authority (NSA) to charge Ghc 20,000 for the usage of the Accra Sports Stadium will make the government unpopular.

The NSA released a statement to announce the new charges ahead of the start of the 2020/21 football season.

Premier League clubs that use the venue will have to pay GHC 20,000 per game according to the statement released by the NSA on the user fees.

“Management would like to bring to your notice and attention of fees as well as Teams and Conditions associated with the usage of the Accra Sports Stadium involving Premier League Matches, Matches between Hearts and Kotoko and the National Teams are grouped under “Category A”.

“Matches between Hearts or Kotoko versus other Premier League clubs are grouped under ‘Category B’ and matches between other clubs excluding Hearts and Kotoko are grouped under “Category C”,

“Home teams will be made to pay GHC 20,000 per match under Category B matches whilst Category C matches will attract GHC 15,000”, the statement indicated.

According to Oluboi Commodore the move by the NSA will make the government unpopular with just some few months to elections.

He stated that COVID-19 pandemic has affected clubs financially and the NSA should have considered some relief packages for the clubs instead of hiking the prices.

“This move by the NSA will just make the government unpopular. The government is giving free things during this COVID-19 period and instead the NSA is rather hiking prices. Imagine Olympics paying Ghc 10,000 every game. We are not going to accept this”, he told Odiasempa Kwame Oware on Wamputu Sports on Happy 98.9FM

Oluboi also disclosed that the Ghana Football Association together with the clubs will meet the NSA to discuss the new rates.
