Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, has said that President of Nigeria Muhammadu Buhari must be prosecuted for crimes against humanity.

Several people were killed as Nigerian soldiers opened fire at a key protest site in Lagos, witnesses said, as the government sought to end two weeks of marches against police brutality that have mushroomed into broader nationwide demonstrations.

Speaking on Happy FM’s Epa Hao Daben show with Kwame Afrifa-Mensah, Mr Frank said” Buhari must be tried in the law court for crimes against humanity. He must not go scot-free by the time he leaves office as the President of Nigeria. He must be prosecuted, he has committed murder.”

According to him, Buhari must not be the only person who should be prosecuted. “He and his entire government must also go to jail especially the Chief of Staff, Chief of the army staff, the police head and governor of the Lagos state.”

He revealed that they [Protesters] have written to the European Union and other international bodies to revoke the Visas of the above leaders mentioned because “they are responsible for the current killing of the innocent Nigerians.”

Scores of Nigerians have thronged the streets for days in protest against brutalities in the Nigerian Police force. However, tensions have escalated across the oil-rich West African nation in recent days as violence has flared across several cities across southern and central states. Armed groups—which demonstrators say were government agitators, a charge the government and its allies has denied—have clashed with protesters, properties has been vandalized and in the southwestern Edo state, dozens of prisoners were freed in a jailbreak, prompting the state government to impose a curfew.
