Underfunded security services birthed corrupt SARS – Nigerian Politician

A former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of Buhari’s All Progressives Congress (APC) and a member of the #EndSARS movement Comrade Timi Frank, has called on Western countries like America to lend their voice in the fight against police brutality in Nigeria.

According to him, Nigerians have lost hope in African leaders and would rather call on leaders in the West to support them in their fight.

He made this known in an interview with Kwame Afrifa Mensah on the ‘Epa Hoa Daben’ show when he said: “We are seeking the help of the Western World. We need the American Government to assist us. Our African leaders will never speak out. So the West will help and support us to get freedom in Nigeria”.

When quizzed by Kwame Afrifa Mensah if they do not fear that such interference from the West will be as devastating as what happened in Gaddafi’s Libya, he answered, “the difference between what happened in Libya and what we want to happen is that we as Nigerians are the ones going to them. In fact, we want to thank Hilary Clinton for breaking the silence on this movement”.

Nigeria’s celebrities and activists started protesting against police brutality and demanding for an end to SARS, the Special Anti-Robbery Squad accused of harassment, unlawful arrests and extortion weeks ago.

Yesterday, however, Nigeria’s security forces reportedly shot at protesters demonstrating against the country’s Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) accused of brutality.

Many have called on the African Union and the ECOWAS to condemn these acts and take action to bring calm to these countries.
