“Where Are They?”- RTU Legend urges management to settle differences to revive the club

Former Ghana and Real Tamale United striker Mohammed Choo says his former side can rise up to compete in the domestic-topflight if those managing the club are able to settle their differences.

The giant club from the North were relegated in the 2010/11 season after 33 years in the top-flight division.

RTU have failed to find their rhythm, struggling in the Division One League in their bid to secure promotion to the Ghana Premier League.

Speaking on Happy FM’s “Where Are They” program, Mohammed Choo a legend of the club when asked why the team had failed to progress to the top-flight division he said, “I feel sad about how RTU has fallen over the years”.

“Individual interests in the club is what has led to our current predicament. We can only qualify and resurrect the club if we bury that personal interest and agenda”.

Choo dreamt of playing for one of Ghana’s biggest clubs Hearts of Oak and the Ghana national team.

He had his dream fulfilled when he got a call up to the national team but that dream to play Hearts of Oak never materialized.

The two-time Ghana Premier League winner in 1978 and 1982 said, injuries hampered his ability to perform at the national team level.

According to him, he was sidelined with an injury for six months which made him miss the Africa Cup of Nations.

“I got injured in a match whilst playing for Real Tamale United. It took me six months to recover. I came back stronger in 1982 to score 15 goals in the league to win the goal king award. At a point I had to turn an assist provider because the goals were not coming”, he told Ohene-Bampoe Brenya on Happy Sports.

Mohammed Choo currently works with Real Tamale United as a striker’s coach.
