Director of Health Promotion at the Ghana Health Service (GHS), Dr. Aboagye Da Costa, has assured Ghanaians that the Ghana Health Service will prioritize the safety of the populace in the introduction of any COVID-19 vaccine in the country.

He made this known in an interview with Samuel Eshun on the Happy Morning Show aired on Happy 98.9FM and e.TV Ghana.

“Ghana Health Service and Ghana will not take any vaccine that will jeopardize the safety of the populace. This is why we have laws that from the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA),Ghana Standards Authority(GSA), Ghana Pharmaceutical Association and Council that guides this decision to make sure that the vaccine is safe before it is introduced. For now Ghanaians must rest assured and trust the system and know that their health is our concern. We won’t allow anything to disrupt their safety”.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in his 20th address to the nation on measures against COVID-19, made known that Ghana will not be left out in having access to COVID-19 vaccines that have been approved by the Food and Drugs Administration of the United States of America and the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency of the United Kingdom.

The President also assured that “Government will ensure that the COVID-19 vaccines to be deployed in the country are effective and safe”.
