Social Commentator Bernard Allotey Jacobs has described #FixTheCountry campaign as a new development in Ghana’s political space that promotes dialogue and consensus-building.

According to him, this innovation which has been accepted by the ruling government will contribute massively as a joint effort between the government and the ordinary Ghanaian in progressively developing the country.

He believes the campaign is a developmental one that seeks to bring Ghanaians together for the achievement of a particular cause.

“#FixTheCountry is the new highlife that has been introduced by the Ghanaian youth. The hashtag has gained traction and is being followed by the ordinary Ghanaian. When the hashtag was birthed, the Minister for Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta also started the let us fix it together hashtag”.

He noted that these hashtags cannot be condemned and they call for a consultation between all stakeholders devoid of insults and any malice.

In an interview with Happy98.9FM’s Don Kwabena Prah on the Epa Hoa Daben political talk show, Allotey Jacobs hailed originators of the #FixTheCountry campaign. “These young men have no political affiliations but have pricked the minds of Ghanaians. This campaign has given us the chance to once again sit down and revive the discussion on how we can reduce unemployment amongst the youth”.

The campaign, #Fixthecountry, which started on the microblogging site, Twitter had some thousands of Ghanaians venting their displeasure over what many describe as a failure on the part of successive governments to improve the lives of the citizenry.

The campaign seeks to get the government to fix the country in areas like Unemployment, Sanitation, Health, Bad Roads, the Economy, and others.
