‘GHc20,000 bounty on James Town bullion van robbers is a joke’ – Int’l Diplomatic Expert

A video has emerged of General Constable Emmanuel Osei, a policeman who lost his life in an armed robbery attack singing Fameye’s song ‘long life’ featuring Kwesi Arthur.

In a video posted on Facebook seen by happyghana.com, Osei is seen passionately singing as the song plays in the background.

Accra was thrown into a state of shock yesterday when armed robbers intercepted a bullion van and killed two people in the process.

One of the deceased of the incidents was a young police officer who was accompanying the bullion van.

According to the Greater Accra Regional Police PRO DSP, Efia Tenge, the name of the young man was Constable Emmanuel Osei.

She said he was a member of the National SWAT Unit. Tenge explained, was guarding a Nissan van with registration number GT 8592 which belongs to a company called Montran.

However, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), James Oppong-Boanuh, has threatened to withdraw his men from escorting bullion vehicles if armoured vans are not provided.

According to him, the Association of Bankers is expected to provide fortified armoured vehicles for carting currencies by the close of June 2021.

In a statement issued by the Police Service, the provision of fortified armoured vans has been agreed upon with the Association of Bankers.

The call follows Monday morning’s armed attack on a bullion van at Adedenkpo.
