Sex before or after marriage? A lady’s take

Media personality, Casandra, personally know as Sandra Apertey, has given her take on the discussion of whether people should have sex before marriage or keep their virginity until after marriage.

Casandra was interviewed by Mercy Bee the Ekumfi Princess on eTV Ghana’s Girl Vibes show where she started by defining sex generally as intercourse between two adults, be it of the opposite gender or of the same gender. “Even though we haven’t accepted same sex relations in our part of the world and the Bible does not condone it either, things are changing in the world, so I think that we need to be able to define sex correctly”, she said.

Going on to share her opinion on whether sex should be before marriage or after, she stated that the age eighteen is the legally recognized age for one to have sex, hence, it is up to everyone to decide when they hit that age, whether they want to have sex or keep their virginity till marriage.

She continued however, that, “With everything, you need to look at it how it’s seen from your part of the world and let that guide your life because everyone was raised differently depending on where they were raised. In our part of the world, even at eighteen, you’re not eligible for sex”.

Casandra mentioned that in other parts of the world, once someone turns eighteen, they have to leave their parents’ house and start to fend for themselves but in Ghana, even at eighteen, one is now done with senior high school or has now entered the university and is still living under parental support sand supervision, hence is not allowed to have sex until marriage.

In conclusion, she opined that sex before marriage so long as the person is eighteen or above, is legally allowed, however, looking at it from the moral point of view, sex before marriage is a sin.

Casandra is an expert financial consultant and the host of the new 30-minute financial literacy programme, ‘The Money Hub’, on Happy FM.
