Black Bombers head coach, Akwasi Ofori, has assured Ghanaians that the team will do its best to win a medal at the ongoing Tokyo Olympic Games.
Akwasi Ofori was speaking on the back of Sulemanu Tetteh’s win over Marte de la Rosa Rodrigo of the Dominican Republic in Team Ghana’s first Olympic event.

Sulemanu Tetteh recorded a split decision (3-2) victory over Marte de la Rosa Rodrigo of the Dominican Republic in the Flyweight division to book a spot in the round of 16 of the Tokyo Olympics boxing event.
Three of the five judges scored in favor of Tetteh, while two scored for Rodrigo.

Speaking to the media after the event, Coach Akwasi Ofori said the performance exhibited by Boxer Sulemanu Tetteh shows the Black Bombers are determined to make Ghanaians happy with the needed support.

“We are manifesting the kind of training and preparation we had because we want to make history here.

“It is not easy and we are gradually on the right path and Sulemanu Tetteh’s win may signal that we are really serious. We are still asking for Ghanaians to pray for us because it is not an easy competition but we will put up our best to make Ghanaians happy”, he added.

The next Ghanaian boxer in action will be Samuel Takyi against Jean Carlos Pachito Caicedo of Ecuador on Wednesday July 28 at 04:06GMT.
