Athletics Coach Prince Anane, has blamed Ghana’s poor performance in the Track and Field event at the Tokyo Olympic Games to poor coaching.

According to him, the athletes representing Team Ghana in Athletics had the potential to win medals but failed due to poor coaching.

He also mentioned that the Ghana Athletics Association should be blamed for not selecting the right technical members for the athletes.

“Andrew Owusu is a ‘Jon’coach.Every coach will not make this mistake. If he is then he won’t be making these mistakes. The Ghana Athletes Association did not help us at all and they even know it”, he told Joe Debrah on Wamputu Sports on Happy 98.9FM.

“The athletes listen to their coaches and if they don’t have that bond with you it’s a problem. In Ghana we always fix square pegs in round holes. This was our chance to make a name but all is not lost”.

He added that the Ghana Athletics Association should start preparing a team right after the Olympics ahead of future competitions.

“We should start preparing the team for future tournaments. When analyzing the flaws of the team we all should be ready to accept the faults and not feel victimized”.
