The Grandpapa of Ghanaian hiplife music, Reggie Rockstone, has described the recent beef between rappers Obibini and Amerado as a top class lyrical war.

Speaking with Doctar Cann on Happy98.9FM’s Showbiz xtra, Reggie explained that there are two types of ‘beefs’, mainly lyrical beefs and personal beefs.

Lyrical beefs or wars, he said, are part of the rap culture and Jamaican dancehall culture because it is basically a battle between rappers to determine who has the best punchlines and lyrics.

Personal beefs or wars on the other hand, have more emotions attached. However, he disclosed that some of these seemingly personal beefs are fake because some artistes just do it to get relevant when they want to get into the limelight or they realize that they are losing their fame.

In Amerado and Obibini’s case, Reggie noted that what they had was a lyrical beef and a top class lyrical war for that matter. “That was a top class lyrical war and not child’s play. These two are what we call rappers of rappers. You could never have found a more activated battle than what those two had. If you listen to their raps, you’ll see that there are levels in rap”, he said.

Reggie commended Amerado and Obibini for being great rappers and showcasing it perfectly. “Hands down, those two are no joke and I commend them for it. It’s a lyrical war so it’s good sportsmanship”, the grandpapa further concluded.
