The General Secretary of GFA, Lawyer Prosper Harrison Addo, stated emphatically during the launch of the 2021-2022 Ghana Premier League that the upcoming league campaign is tailored to end in June in order to allow what he termed as synchronization.
The impact of COVID 19 was heavily felt in the world of sports across the world and the Ghana Premier League was no exception as the league resumed in December 2019 after uncertainty upon its return.
However, the post COVID era was eventful with Aduana Stars and Hearts of Oak winning the last two campaigns.
“Actually our season starts from July 1st and ends at June 30th but due to COVID 19, things have shifted…” Mr. Addo stated.
The General Secretary also insisted the football governing body of Ghana, GFA is doing everything in its power to make the GPL calendar return to the normal dates.
He said: “We are working very hard and if you look at the calendar for the upcoming season, you will see that we’ve tailored it to finish in June so that we can come back to what everybody calls synchronization”.
“We see it as statutory duty and we’ll work very hard to come back to June, so next year we’ll be having this program a bit earlier than October”, he added
