It’s primitive to allow job seekers to queue in the age of digitization – David Tamakloe

The Editor of Whatsapp News, David Tamakloe, has expressed disappointment in the recruitment process of the security services in the country.

The editor described the current process as “primitive” as he believes in this modern age of digitization, there ought to be a better way of recruiting people into the security services.

David expressed these sentiments following the news of long queues at the recruitment centres of security services such as the immigration and police services.

Speaking to Samuel Eshun on the Happy Morning Show, the editor stated: “We always tout that we are in a digital stage and we are always priding ourselves with digitalization. Yet, we are unable to get these forms in a digital system; as if giving people these jobs or advertising these jobs is like doing job seekers a favour. Can’t we compile all these forms in a portal or a domain that people can access and apply with all their credentials and then when they are selected, they can go through the next part of the application process?”

The editor believes that this “appalling” situation is only happening because some persons are trying to look and feel relevant.

“This is so primitive particularly at a time where we say we are practising digitalization,” David stressed.

Thousands of Ghanaian youth thronged the El-Wak Sports Stadium in Accra last week Monday for screening and subsequent recruitment into the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS).

According to the applicants, they arrived at the stadium as early as possible to avoid long queues and to get an early spot for the screening.

The Service has scheduled Monday to Wednesday as dates for the screening process across the country.

The long queue extended beyond the entrance of the stadium to the Lands Commission office near the cantonments Post Office.

The Service, on August 23, 2021, opened applications for Ghanaians to be enlisted into the service.
