Former Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Ejisu Juaben Municipality, Afrifa Yamoah Ponko has predicted that the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) will woefully lose in the 2024 elections.

He explained that this loss will be a result of the rampant corruption and malfeasance that has characterized the party’s rule since it assumed power in 2017.

He added that despite the NPP’s efforts in ensuring that the best person stands as flagbearer for the party in 2024, they will still lose the election.

He made these statements during an interview on the ‘Epa Hoa Daben’ show hosted by Don Prah.

“The NPP will lose in 2024 right after Wontumi’s loss in their internal election. These things are bound to happen. They can bring in Donald trump or Biden, they will still lose woefully as a result of their malfeasance and corruption.”

Yamoah Ponkoh added that even in 2020, the NPP had the win of the election on a silver platter because of the hypocritical nature of religious leaders who were spewing lies about John Mahama. He noted, however, that the 2024 election will take a different turn.

In recent times, some Ghanaians have expressed views on the 2024 elections and related topics such as flagbearers and those who are well-positioned to win the election.

In the political parties, there have been debates on who is set to be the next flagbearer. For example, in the NPP, there have been discussions on who is fit to ‘break the eight’ for the party to retain power.

While some have supported Vice President Bawumia for the flagbearership position, some have thrown their weight behind Trade Minister Alan Kyeremanten.
