GPL week five wrap-up: Kotoko drop points as Eleven Wonders register first win

Legon cities opened the fifth week of the Ghana Premier League as they lost at home to Aduana stars by a goal to nil at the Len Clay Stadium in Accra. Mohammed Yahaya’s club record 50th goal was the only difference in the game moved to fourth on the league table.

WAFA narrowly won 1-0 in their game against Accra Great Olympics at the Sogakope Stadium. Justus Torsutsey converted from the spot after the Academy boys were awarded the advantage in injury time.

In form Augustine Okrah guided Bechem United to a 3-1 comeback against as Dreams FC. Emmanuel Avornyo’s 45th minute goal cancelled out Ali Huzaf for Dreams in the early moments of the game.

Elsewhere at the at the Kpamdo Stadium, Eleven Wonders recorded their first win of the season as they thumped Elmina Sharks in a thrilling 3-1 scoreline with Mohammed Tetteh grabbing a double for the Kpamdo boys, while the Bibiani Gold Stars dominated Accra Lions in a 2-0 convincing victory at the Duns Park.

Asante Kotoko also dropped points for the first time this season in a goalless draw away to Karela United. Kotoko were down to 10 men after Richard Boadu saw red card in the 63rd minute of the game. However, Karela failed to capitalize on the chance to grab all three points.

AshantiGold stood no chance against Real Tamale United at the Tamale Stadium. Goals from Ismael Nketia and Yusif Nurudeen sealed all three points for RTU as they moved on top Ashgold.

Medeama neutralized second placed King Faisal in a 0-0 draw at the Baba Yara Stadium, while the game between and Hearts of Oak and Berekum Chelsea was rescheduled as Samuel Boadu’s charges seeks qualification in the CAF Confederations Cup in their game against Algeria’s JS Souara.
