COVID-19: Ghanaians have not been educated enough - Fmr. GMA General Secretary

The Editor for the Ghanaian Publisher, Obeng Manu has cautioned Ghanaians to be extra vigilant with the discovery of the new variants of the Covid-19 pandemic.

He believes with the upcoming Christmas festivities in the country, the COVID-19 pandemic could possibly be on the rise and urged Ghanaians to keep their guard up.

He also mentioned one may still contract the virus even after vaccination, however, he encouraged Ghanaians to take the jab to not only protect themselves but fellow country men.

Giving his opening submission in an interview on the Happy Morning Show, Mr. Obeng Manu told Samuel Eshun, “The Ghana Health Service have held discussions with relevant stakeholders, with regards to their vaccination this month. Covid has become very unpredictable than ever and we still haven’t found out when it would end. We had first wave with the the original outbreak from China, then the second, third and now we’ve been informed of a fourth wave. The situation is becoming more incomprehensible and worrying but we still trust our our doctors and medical practitioners in the space.

When you take the vaccine, you may still get the virus but the danger is less than anything else. The good news is the vaccinations have been pushed into the system, it’s now more common so I entreat Ghanaians to go for their jabs.”

On Thursday, November 25, a new coronavirus variant was discovered in South Africa and appeared to be spreading rapidly in parts of the Southern parts of Africa, in countries like South Africa and Botswana.

The new variant has been described to have the ability to undergo mutation and could result in immune evasion and enhanced transmissibility of the virus.
