The road to the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) has been cleared and the leading sports radio brand in Ghana, Happy98.9FM is at the forefront in making the tournament extra exciting to football lovers.

AFCON 2021 is scheduled to be the 33rd edition of the Africa Cup of Nations, the biennial international men’s football championship of Africa organized by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

The tournament is scheduled to be hosted by Cameroon and will take place from 9 January to 6 February 2022.

Starting the one-month countdown to the AFCON 2021 on Thursday, December 9, 2021, Happy98.9FM has put in place a myriad of activities to build up momentum to the tournament which has already been postponed on 2 different occasions.

Happy98.9FM as part of the countdown will schedule a series of interviews with past AFCON participants, provide updates and fact check to educate sports fans and refresh their memories on AFCON history. Known as the hub for learning and gift packages, Happy98.9FM as usual will award prizes to persons who partake in the sports trivia.

Head of Sports at Happy98.9FM, Odiasempa Kwame Oware shedding more light on the countdown added, “There will also be a predict and win promo where the lucky winners will receive a variety of prizes from sponsors. One will be required to correctly predict the four semifinalists, the two finalists and winner of the AFCON to win the ultimate prize.”

Bringing sports fans into contact with their favourite presenters and producers in the Happy Sports team, Happy98.9FM will set up the Fan Zone chill spot where a venue will be selected for live viewing of some selected matches. Prior to the match, fans will stand the chance of winning various prizes by answering sports trivia on the teams and stages of the competition.
