Private Legal Practitioner, Benjamin Tachie Antiedu, regards Ghana’s Constitution Day celebration as the most significant of all public holidays.

Describing the holiday as symbolic, he argues the 1992 constitution set the pace and ushered the country into a period of political stability and development.

To him, “the Constitution Day is not just a day to celebrate the nation’s constitution but to celebrate the peace we have enjoyed and the framework put in place by government that has ensured stability from 1993. There is no holiday as important as the Constitution Day.”

Speaking to Samuel Eshun on the Happy Morning Show, he charged duty bearers to intensify educational campaigns about the day.
“It is good we celebrate Constitution Day but education about the day and it’s relevance is lacking. We need to educate the populace more about the constitution and why we celebrate Constitution Day.”

Lawyer Benjamin Tachie Antiedu charged authorities and the ordinary Ghanaian to support in the translation of the constitution into the different local languages to create more understanding “and educate more Ghanaians about the constitution.”

Constitution Day is to commemorate the establishment of a new constitution for the fourth republic of Ghana in January 1993- popularly known as the 1992 constitution of Ghana.

Constitution Day of Ghana is observed yearly on 7th January and also to recognize the country’s effort to maintain and sustain the 4th republic over the years.
