#HappyFMMassWedding: Find out the key ingredient of a successful relationship

Mrs. Ellen Gyamerah-Ako, Bible teacher and counselor has implored couples of the 2022 Happy Mass Wedding to make communication between each other mutual in order to experience a healthy and happy marriage.

Mrs. Gyamerah-Ako during the counseling session of the 2022 Happy Mass Wedding maintained that, successful marriages mostly center on communication and depict the tenacity of every relationship.

“There are some significant things most people tend to take for granted in every relationship and gradually ruins the existing rapport. One of which is communication. Communication is literally the solid foundation of every relationship, whether marital, friendships, family or even in the corporate scenes. For every relation to be successful or reign forever, there are some things that needs to be appreciated and observed,” she said during the counseling session of the 2022 Happy FM Mass Wedding.

Counselor Ellen Gyamerah-Ako defined communication as the various ways people usually express their thoughts and feeling to others, either through verbal means or non-verbal means.

She also discouraged couples from always exchanging utterances and insisted that it is important for couples to cultivate a listening habit which bridges common ground for understanding.

“Communication in simple terms is the expression of one’s ideas or feelings to another. Communication should always be a two-way affair. However, it is also relevant to listen when another is talking, you can then respond afterwards. Understanding is very crucial in relationships. You need to share your thoughts with relative and in this instance your spouse. Imagine being in the room with your spouse or a relative, you all don’t talk to each other and whatsoever. How would they know how you feel and what is actually going on in your life?” she asked.

Mrs. Ellen Gyamerah-Ako further propounded that, there are other expressions that could ruin the relationship. She labeled them as divisive communication and they included anger and bitterness.

“There are other things that bring about division, that is the divisive communication and they include anger. We are mostly advised to watch the words we throw out because what we say cannot be taken back. Normally out of anger people say worse things, things not meant to be said. Another is bitterness. Usually, the expression and posture of a person gives out much than we think. It is important to take all these things into account in relationships,” she added.
