Former Ghana international, Emmanuel Agyeman-Badu, has said the technical handlers of the Black Stars should have been strategic by inviting a player from either Asante Kotoko or King Faisal for the crucial World Cup qualifier.

The game which comes off at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Friday, March 25 will see the Black Stars host The Super Eagles in the first leg.

According to the former Udinese midfielder, Coach Otto Addo should have at least invited a player from one of the Kumasi-based clubs to join the team.

He explained that this would help drive supporters to the Baba Yara Sports Stadium to cheer the team.

“This is the squad we have and we have to support it. If we criticize or scrutinize the squad, it’s the only team we have. Since we are taking the game to Kumasi, we should have been strategic to at least select a player from Asante Kotoko or King Faisal to the team”, he told Ohene-Bampoe Brenya on Happy FM.

The Black Stars team arrived in Kumasi on Tuesday to continue with preparations ahead of the game on Friday.

Black Stars coach Otto Addo is confident in his team to complete the task of qualifying for the 2022 World Cup

Speaking ahead of the game he said, “We all expect Ghana to qualify for the FIFA World Cup (Qatar 2022) but that won’t be easy as we need to do our best to make it to this tournament.

“The players, the technical team, and the Ghana Football Association are committed to this task. We really want to make ourselves and the nation proud by qualifying for this upcoming World Cup. Matches between Ghana and Nigeria are always difficult but we believe in our players, we believe in our strategies, and we believe in the unflinching support of all Ghanaians as we go into these two matches. We are Ghana and we have what it takes to come out victorious”, he added.
