Traditional leaders in the Kwabre East Constituency of the Ashanti region have expressed their disappointment in President Nana Akufo-Addo and his government over the lack of projects and development in the constituency.

Chief of Mamponteng, Barima Saasi Ayeboafo II, explained that despite the Constituency giving the party the highest votes in 2016 and the 2020 general elections, they have been neglected in terms of development and projects.

“What sin have we committed against the NPP for denying us development despite voting massively for the party?”

According to the Mampongteng traditional council, the votes the Kwabere East Constituents gave to the party don’t represent the development in the NPP-dominated constituency.

In the 2016 presidential election, the New Patriotic Party’s candidate Nana Akufo Addo secured overwhelming votes of 71,112 repenting 81.77% while in 2020 the party again recorded impressive votes of 86,000 setting a national record as the constituency that gave NPP the highest votes.

However, despite being loyal to the ruling government the Constituents believe the ruling government has taken their loyalty for granted, therefore, stressing “From now onwards, we will vote based on development”.

Addressing a press conference dubbed: “Boniaye Kai” at the Mamponteng palace, Barima Saasi Ayeboafo II said roads in the Constituency have deteriorated as well as the lack of proper market facilities.

He noted that nothing has been built not to mention the agenda 111 hospitals and schools facilities promised by the president.

He said President Akufo-Addo in 2019 cut sod for the construction of road networks in the Constituency at Mamponteng but noted that the contractor has abandoned the roads for the past two months.
