Ghana Football Association (GFA) Director of Communications, Henry Asante Twum has confirmed that the appeal sent by the West African Football Club (WAFA) has been rejected by the Club Licencing Board of the Ghana Football Association.

He stated categorically that, the decision to reject the appeal by the West African Football club to play its home fixtures in Sogakope was a violation of the regulation on Ghana Football Association (GFA) which the club is aware of.

WAFA have been relegated from Ghana Premier League to the Division 1 after six years in the top flight and were hoping to play its home fixtures in Sogakope instead of searching for an alternative home venue in Zone 2.

Speaking in an interview on Wamputu Sports, Henry Asante Twum laid out the processes the Club Licensing Board used for all cubs in the Ghana Premier league, Women’s league and Division 1.

“There would be no problem if WAFA decided to train and camp at sogakope but they cannot have their division 1 fixtures there because it would be a violation of the regulations by the Ghana Football Association”,he told Odiasempa Kwame Oware.

“In the beginning of every season, the Club licensing Board through the manager issues notices to every club to submit their home venue, training grounds and alternative home venues.

“This structuring then helps the Club Licensing Board to go about their works smoothly as well inspection of the grounds brought to us by the clubs” he added.
