Tiwaa Addo-Danquah doesn’t deserve to be EOCO boss – David Tamakloe

Editor of online news portal, WhatsUp News, David Tamakloe, believes Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah does not deserve to head the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO).

He argues her performance at previous posts and theories about her person, put her credibility and professionalism into question, making it wrong for her to have been appointed into such a sensitive office.

“Tiwaa doesn’t deserve to be head of EOCO. Being CID boss we all saw the problems from her end. We saw her inconsistencies in the Takoradi girls kidnapping case and how the case is still a mystery up till now. Her work has been full of inconsistencies until now and that’s bad. We also heard she was coaching people on what to say in the Serwaa Broni case. How can we have people in public service expected to work in the interest of the public doing this?” He lamented.

Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah, Executive Director of the Economic and Organised Crimes Office (EOCO), has stated that it is becoming difficult to find evidence to prosecute Nana Appiah Mensah, otherwise known as NAM 1, the former CEO of Menzgold.

The EOCO boss explained that nothing is a crime until it is made a crime by legislation.

She stated that, “sometimes you know someone has committed a crime but lack the relevant law to support your case.”

“An example is the Menzgold case. Which law, which Act did he break? And it is becoming difficult even prosecuting that case because no law will define the offence,” the EOCO boss stated.

Reacting to this, David Tamakloe revealed Tiwaa Addo-Danquah who played a critical role in the Nam1 case at the initial stages always said the government had no interest in his (Nam1’s) prosecution.

Speaking to Samuel Eshun on the Editors’ Take Edition of the Happy Morning Show, he said, “How can the person in charge of EOCO while the matter is before the courts come out to say there is no law to prosecute Nam1? They’re saying this because government is not interested in this matter.”

The investigative journalist alleged the real issues behind the Nam1 case has been covered up “and I hope someday all of these things will be reopened.”

He described actions of the EOCO boss as an insult to the judicial system. “What is terrible is the matter is before the courts and she says it is all a charade. Before the ruling from the court, she is prejudicing the matter and that’s wrong.”

David Tamakloe hopes Ghana will soon have a President who has the interests of Ghanaians at heart, preventing such occurrences from happening.
