The embattled Chinese galamsey queen, Aisha Huang, is married to a Ghanaian, her lawyer has said.

According to her Lawyer Nkrabea Effah Dartey, Aisha Huang’s husband is a prominent Ghanaian from the Ashanti Region.

The comment of the defense lawyer suggests that Aisha Huang only returned to Ghana through legally approved routes to enjoy her
husband after she was deported in 2018.

Effah Dartey revealed that Huang’s husband holds a Master’s degree from a Chinese University.

“She is legally married to a Ghanaian, according to a Ghanaian customary law. I know this because of her Ghanaian husband, a businessman in Kumasi and a master’s degree holder from a Chinese University,” he said it on Happy FM’s Epa Hoa Daben with Don Kwabena Prah.

In the Ghanaian law, Ghanaian citizenship can be obtained by birth, naturalization, Registration through marriage and by Naturalization and adoption. A person born in or outside Ghana after the coming into force of Ghana’s 1992 Constitution, shall become a citizen of Ghana at the date of his birth if either of his/her parents or grandparents is or was a citizen of Ghana.
