#HappySportsDialogue: Brazil friendly was a good test for Ghana – Coach Yaw Preko

Former Ghana international and head coach of Accra based Great Olympics, Yaw Preko, says the Blacks Stars have a singular and primary mindset of putting up an impressive performance at the 2022 Qatar World Cup.

The coach indicates that the team is not preoccupied with getting revenge against their world cup arch enemy Uruguay.

The 2010 World Cup is recalled as a tournament of low-scoring matches, played out amid the distracting honk of vuvuzelas, with Ghana suffering defeat at the hands of Uruguay on a penalty shootout after Luis Suárez broke the hearts of Ghanaians by denying Dominic Adiyiah’s goal bound header in the dying seconds of extra time with a hand ball.

A memory still recalled and dwelled on by Ghanaians till date, the Black Stars as some will call a spin of fate, will once again face Uruguay in the 2022 Qatar World Cup on December 2, as they have both been drawn in Group H together with Portugal and South Korea.

With many speculating the Ghanaian team seeks to enact revenge on Uruguay, Coach Yaw Preko in a discussion on Ghana’s preparedness for the World Cup with e.tv Ghana’s Ohene Bampoe Brenya said, “some of our players have improved their game and just as people do not believe in the team now, and when everyone sees Ghana as the underdog that is when the team performs. The team will perform incredibly at the world cup and I doubt any of the players is looking at getting any form of revenge in the tournament.”

Although the Black Stars technical team has been together for a short while, he does not doubt their cohesion. He insists the coach is well aware of his 26 man squad and is prepared for the tournament.
