Hearts of Oak recorded back-to-back wins for the first time this season in the Ghana Premier League after beating Kotoku Royals 1-0 at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium on Saturday.

It was the second consecutive win for Coach Slavko Matic and also the club’s first away win of the campaign.

Daniel Afriyie Barnie returned to the side to score the winner for Hearts of Oak against Kotoku Royals through the penalty spot in this week five fixture.

Kotoku Royals proved tough customers for The Phobians in this game but lacked the cutting edge in the game due to inexperience on the part of their forwards.

Speaking after the game, Hearts of Oak coach Slavko Matic admitted Kotoku Royals were a tough side, “The opponents are tough, they have conceded only three goals in five games. They are disciplined and second half they were aggressive with the ball.”

Matic added: “We saw in the first half the players made some good combinations. We need time, it’s not easy to make a compact time. We must work harder and our club, players must play better. This team will play better”.

Kotoku Royals head coach Seth Ablade blamed his strikers for the defeat following the missed chances in the game.

“I am happy about the way the players played today. I think the only thing we need to do better is the quality upfront that is what killed us today. I am disappointed because the penalty was too easy. We should have gotten something out of this game.

At the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Asante Kotoko came from behind to beat Samartex 2-1.

The Porcupine Warriors had conceded the first goal in the 49th minute through Prince Antwi before Nicholas Mensah and Augustine Agyapong inspired Kotoko to the win their goals in the 78th and 86th minute
