GFA report ‘DISGRACEFUL’ referee to FIFA for bad officiating against Portugal

Ghana was defeated by Portugal in their first match in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar by 2:3. The loss stunned Ghanaians who believed the Black Stars outperformed the Portuguese national team, with the referee being biased towards the latter.

With Ghanaians crying foul and calling for sanctions against the referee, editor of the Ghanaian Publisher Newspaper, Yaw Obeng Manu, has advised Ghanaians to accept the loss in good faith.

“Bad officiating is a part of football and if the referee was biased towards Ghana we would not have complained. Cheating is part of football and players dive all the time for results. Ronaldo did that and unfortunately for us the Portuguese benefitted,” he submitted in the Editors’ Take discussion on the Happy Morning show.

Advising Coach Otto Addo of the Black Stars, he urged him to be “man enough, stand his grounds and make serious decisions.”

Otto Addo was advised against making changes like he did in the Ghana-Portugal match, and directed to utilize Thomas Partey effectively.

Ghana is scheduled to play South Korea this afternoon. Yaw Obeng Manu advised the Black Stars not to take the Koreans for granted.

Cameroon, Morocco, Senegal, Tunisia and Ghana are representing Africa at Qatar World Cup. These African teams all went to the tournament with African coaches.
