The President of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC), Ben Nunoo Mensah, says one of his targets for the year is to complete the country’s Olympic Complex at Amasaman.

According to the former Ghana Weightlifting Federation president, the GOC has been able to secure the land for the project after 16 years.

Speaking in an interview on Happy Sports on Happy 98.9 FM on the targets set for the year, he said,

“Our juvenile facility at Amasaman has been a tremendous success,” he said in an interview on Happy 98.9FM about the year’s goals. So far, we have been able to secure the land at Amasaman. We have the land title for the land. Now I can confidently say the land belongs to the Ghana Olympic Committee.

“We are hoping to get all the sporting facilities over there, and the only challenge will be swimming, but we have other swimming facilities around in Bukum and Burma Camp.”

Ben Nunoo Mensah stated the project is being supported by Olympic Africa

“For Amasaman, once the Olympia Africa is supporting us, every money they bring, once on your own you should be able to raise 30 percent of it.” “So far, we have received is $100,000 for the project, and it is up to us to get sponsorship from companies and corporate Ghana,” he added.

The project, when completed, would serve as a centre of excellence for youth across the country.
