Bayern Munich have suspended forward Sadio Mane after he allegedly punched team-mate Leroy Sane following their Champions League defeat to Manchester City on Tuesday.
The altercation between the two players left Sane with a bleeding lip, and their teammates had to intervene to separate the pair in the dressing room, according to reports.
In a short statement on Thursday, Bayern said, “Sadio Mané, 31, will not be included in the FC Bayern squad for this Saturday’s home match against 1899 Hoffenheim.
“This is due to his misconduct after Bayern’s Champions League match at Manchester City. Mané will also be given a fine.”
Upon their return to Munich, Mane was picked up privately from the airport, while Sane took the team bus.
Mane and Sane are said to have apologised to the club.
