The wait is over as Ghana’s Premier IT Training Institute, OpenLabs, formerly NIIT, the best information technology training institution, has launched its ‘Fashion & Garment’ course to complement the entrepreneurial skills courses they already offer. OpenLabs, a citadel of IT in Ghana, offers IT diploma, application development courses, and other professional courses in IT.

The Center Head for OpenLabs – Kumasi, Mr. Enoch Owusu, revealed that OpenLabs, from afar, seeing a blend between Fashion & IT in today’s world informed the decision to come up with such so people in Fashion can also see the good use of computer models in fashion design during a colorful ceremony held at the premises of the IT Training Institute at Asokwa to outdoor the course.

In response to the question of who is eligible for admission to the OpenLabs Fashion & Garment course, Mr. Owusu said, “Right now, we’re considering anybody who can read and write. Since it’s crucial for people to acquire skills before considering qualifications, we don’t want to put too much focus on qualifications.”

“The course has a duration of 6 months; we plan that after the first 6 months, you can proceed to the next 6 months”, he stated. He also mentioned that there is a 25% discount for dignitaries who prefer to study this 6 month program and that it would soon be expanded beyond the bounds. “We intend to set up a degree program, while anyone may opt to continue their education elsewhere with our help”, the Centre Head for OpenLabs Kumasi disclosed

More crucially, the IT Training Institute has already started accepting applicants for their certificate programme in “Fashion & Garment,” primarily to allow impoverished people with a passion for sewing, design, or modeling the chance to follow their goals while incorporating IT.
