Ghana Football Association (GFA) General Secretary Prosper Harrison Addo has strongly denied reports that the GFA is not concerned with recent incidents of referees being attacked by officials.

The development follows an incident that occurred during a Women’s Division Two game last weekend in which Tiyumba Ladies Coach, Iddrisu S. Napari is accused of brutally assaulting a female referee.

Tiyumba Ladies Coach, Iddrisu S. Napari accused of brutally assaulting a female referee.

The incident is the third recorded attack on a referee in the country this year.

Coach Napari has however been declared wanted by Police after the referee’s wing of the Northern Regional Football Association reported the matter to the Police.

Speaking in an interview on Happy FM about the ramp cases of referees being attacked, Mr. Addo urged the public to assist the Police in such cases so the culprits are brought to justice.

“It is not true the FA is not concerned about referees being attacked. We have been working together with the Police to clamp down on officials or individuals found culpable. In all three incidents of referees being attacked, the FA has followed up and left no stone unturned. We frown against such activities and the case involving the Tamale coach is going to be dealt with. the FA will not allow any out-of-court settlement”.

Meanwhile, coach Iddrisu S. Napari remains at large, prompting a concerted effort by the police, the Ghana Football Association, and the Northern Regional Football Association to apprehend him.

Authorities are seeking the public’s support in locating the coach, who has vacated his home since the incident occurred. The police have reassured the public of their unwavering commitment to pursuing Coach Napari until he is arrested and brought to justice.
