Division Two Middle League final chaos: Our supporters were not present at the venue – Nsuatre FC CEO

The Chief Executive Officer of Division Two middle league club Nsuatre FC, Solomon Kyeremeh has rubbished reports stating supporters from his club attacked referees during their Division Two Middle League final against Techiman Liberty.

The highly anticipated clash ended in the 83rd minute when Techiman Liberty were awarded a penalty.

Nsuatre who were unhappy with the decision walked off the field to register their displeasure.

However, according to the Brong Ahafo Division Two League Chairperson, Ababio Alexander during an interview on Happy FM, he spotted the referees being chased by officials and supporters of Nsuatre FC.

“The referees for the game, especially the linesman was running away from an angry crowd who were officials from Nsuatre FC who I believe were not pleased about the referees’ penalty call against them. Supporters of the club also after the incident started throwing stones unto the field which saw the proceedings of the game halted”.

“ I was almost attacked by a fan from Nsuatre who I was trying to convince to drop the stones so proceedings of the game could resume. I was verbally abused by some” he added.

Meanwhile, Nsuatre FC CEO has denied the said allegations stating his team was unable to move supporters from Nsuatre to the match venue due to the long distance.

“Match was played in Debibi, not Nsuatre. From Debibi to Nsuatre is over 100km and the team( Nsuatre FC) had to sleep over so sending supporters to Debibi was impossible because of the distance it was rather some people who were already in Debibi who came to support not our supporters”.

“It was rather a supporter from Techiman Liberty who threw a stone at our goalkeeper who was ready for the penalty to be taken. It is untrue that we didn’t want to resume the match, we agree asked our players to seek shorter because of the stones that were being thrown” he said on Happy FM.

The Match Commissioner is expected to report every incident that transpired in the game to the Brong Ahafo Region Football Association for swift action to be taken.
