The Deputy Minority Leader and Member of Parliament (MP) for Ellembele Constituency, Emmanuel Armah- Kofi Buah has stated categorically that until the prosecution of three Minority Members stops, cooperation with the government and its business will suffer on many occasions.

Speaking to the media after the swearing-in ceremony, he stated that all three pending court cases involving Hon. Collins Dauda, Ato Forson and James Gyakye Quayson are to reduce the strength of minority by the President Akufo-Addo/ Bawumia government.

“We have realized how scared this government is and as we talk our brother Collins Dauda is facing similar ordeal without committing any offense and our own leader who has been tasked to come to work and fight for Ghanaians is always called to court,” he said.

He indicated that the minority will not participate in parliamentary business anytime there is a court hearing of their colleagues.

“Our issue is simple, since the government is bent on weakening the minority caucus so that we won’t be focused on doing the work for the country then we at every moment that our member is sent to court we will leave the duties of parliament to support our colleagues. We will do this through and through for all our members. For Gyakye Guayson, for Collins Duada and Minority Leader Ato Forson . We are not joking because we are one and you touch a member you touch us all,” he added.

Meanwhile, Hon. James Gyakye Guayson has officially been sworn in today, June 4 as MP for Assin-North Constituency after his re-election.

He beat NPP’s Charles Opoku and Bernice Enyonam Sefenu of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG) to reclaim the seat.

His votes margin as compared to the 2020 results is over 1,300. In that election, Mr Gyakye Quayson polled 17,498 votes to beat NPP’s Abena Durowaa Mensah, who polled 14,193.

Mr Gyakye Quayson, who was declared invalidly elected in 2020 by a Supreme Court judgement, will return to take his seat in Parliament.
