Speaker summons three ministries over buffer stock picketing 

The Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Education are set to appear before parliament to commence briefing concerning the status of the National Food buffer stock company. 

The three ministries which were summoned by the Speaker of Parliament, RT. Hon. Alban Sumana Bagbin, would be speaking about the ongoing demonstration organized by food suppliers of the buffer stock company, a matter which sparked the concerns of many Members of Parliament on the grounds. 

Member of Parliament for North Tongu constituency in the Volta Region, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwah touched on the devastating state of the food suppliers picketing the grounds of the National Food Buffer Stock Company. “Over the last four days running into the fifth day continuously, they have been at the mercy of the weather and have been sleeping rough; The women were wailing and rolling on the floor.” he lamented and requested that the earlier mentioned ministries appear before the House urgently to initiate talks. 

According to Mr. Peter Notsu MP for Akasti North Constituency the Buffer Stock owes the suppliers two-years overdue payment and pleaded that parliament intervene in this situation to help ease the burden on their necks. “They are being owed over GH278.00 million Ghana cedis for two years. And the unfortunate thing is that, they have been sidelined, they do not even supply the food to the senior high schools anymore.
