Ghanaians should patronize locally made products – Founder, Abibitumi

Ghanaian Professor and Founder of Abibitumi Obenfo Ọbádélé Bakari Kambon, Nana Kwame Pɛbi Datɛ I has asserted that Ghana’s ability to appreciate locally made products and indigenous generated ideas would be a pacesetting step towards development in Ghana.

In an interview with www.happyghana.com reporter, Kobina Baidoo at the launch of the Baby Kaafo Spelling G competition held at the University of Professional Studies Accra (UPSA),the professor
raised awareness concerning the performance of locally made products as compared to imported products, describing how Ghanaians welcome everything that is presented by the Western world to Africa.

“Countries like China have their country-based version of every app that is on the market and basically what makes that intelligent is that they are able to monitor and control what the people of China consume.”

He indicated that Africa finds herself in a cognitive warfare. Ghana, he said must wake up from this trance and begin to stand for what is Ghanaian. “Our culture is our immune system; and the immune system is what determines what must be allowed into the body and what must be blocked from entering into the body; if we do not know our culture, it means we do not have an immune system so we would allow anything and everything that is proposed to us and that is what would lead to degradation instead of development not only through social media, movies, etc.

The world-renowned master linguist urged Ghanaians to support institutions, media platforms and initiatives that stand for propelling the rich Ghanaian culture to all parts of the world.
