The much-anticipated mid-year review of the budget statement and Economic Policy of the Government of Ghana for the year 2023, which was initially scheduled for July 27th, has been rescheduled to Monday, July 31st.

The announcement was made by the RT. Hon. Speaker Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin during the commencement of government business at the Parliament House.

The decision to postpone the budget presentation was made in light of a significant national event. Speaker Alban Bagbin revealed that a National Development Conference, hosted by the Church of Pentecost has been planned and is expected to be of immense national interest.

Consequently, top officials including the President of the Republic of Ghana, the Chief Justice, the Speaker of Parliament, and members of Parliament, are all slated to attend the event.

Given the importance of the National Development Conference and the presence of key government figures, it was deemed necessary to adjust the parliamentary schedule. As a result, the regular duties of the house, which were supposed to be carried out on the initial presentation date, will not be performed tomorrow.

In the revised plan, the Finance Minister will now appear before Parliament on Monday, July 31st, to present the Mid-Year Review and discuss the supplementary budget for the year. This intense meeting with members of Parliament will likely shed light on the government’s economic policies and financial adjustments in response to the country’s current fiscal situation.
