Former Real Tamale United (RTU) defender Yussif Mohammed Nurudeen has completed a move to Asante Kotoko after a successful medical in the ongoing transfer window.

Kotoko have been considering the player as a good addition to the team as they aim to build a formidable squad for the forthcoming seasons and have finally struck an agreement which will see the player at the club until 2026.

“Asante Kotoko is delighted to confirm the signing of centre-back, Yussif Mohammed Nurudeen, following successful completion of a mandatory medical test.

“The defender arrives on a three-year deal after spending two seasons with Real Tamale United,” Kotoko said.

Yussif, whose efforts for RTU earned him a call-up for the Black Galaxies, was essential for his previous team, appearing in 32 games and earning man of the match honors three times.

His performances were crucial for RTU as they managed to finish 11th on the Ghana Premier League table surviving demotion.

Yussif expressed his delight in joining the Porcupine Warriors while emphasising his zeal to help the team clinch silverware in the future.

“This is a big club and a great opportunity for me to achieve my dream. I am very happy to join the family, and I look forward to winning trophies.”

The central defender is expected to boost the defensive line of Asante Kotoko as they aim to make amends for their dismal showing last season as they failed to defend the Ghana Premier League title finishing fourth behind champions Medeama SC, Aduana Stars, and Bechem United.

The team is expected to kickstart their 2023/24 season with a clash against Heart of Lions at the Baba Yara Stadium on September 16.
