Story By: Ahashie Judeliver Eli

Coach Ofori Asare, the mentor behind Ghana’s National Boxing Team, has shared his insights on the promising UK-based Ghanaian boxer, Seth Gyimah, famously known as Freezy Macbones.

The coach expressed his optimism about Freezy’s potential as he prepares for the upcoming Olympic Games qualifiers in Paris, France, in 2024.

“Freezy Macbones is adjusting, and I’m impressed with his ability,” Coach Ofori Asare remarked during an exclusive interview on Happy FM’s Happy Sports.

He highlighted the dedication and adaptability Freezy has demonstrated in his training regimen, indicating the boxer’s commitment to representing Ghana at the international level.

Preparations for the Olympic Games qualifiers have already commenced, with Freezy Macbones training rigorously at the National Boxing Team’s residential camp located at Trust Sports Emporium in Korle-Gonno, Accra.

Coach Asare acknowledged the challenges that lie ahead, emphasizing, “It won’t be easy,” and called upon Ghanaians not to place undue pressure on the athletes during this crucial phase of their preparation.

Coach Ofori Asare further expressed the team’s aspiration, stating, “So we are hoping to go to Senegal and qualify for Paris.”

Freezy Macbones, who is set on not only qualifying but also inspiring the next generation of boxers, continues to hone his skills under Coach Asare’s guidance.

The team is currently preparing for the qualifiers in Senegal.
