Alan John Kwadwo Kyeremanten, former Trade Minister and prominent figure within the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has officially resigned from the party and declared his intention to run as an independent candidate in the 2024 General Elections.

Alan Kyeremanten made this announcement today, September 25 at a press conference at the Movenpick Hotel, setting the stage for a potentially transformative election season.

Addressing the press Mr. Kyeremanten stated, “Under the circumstances and given the context provided, I wish to use this platform to announce that I am honourably resigning with immediate effect from the New Patriotic Party to contest for the high office of the President of the Republic of Ghana in the 2024 General Elections, as an Independent Presidential Candidate.”

His decision to break away from the NPP comes as a surprise to many, given his history within the party. This marks the second time Kyeremanten has left the NPP.

In 2008, he resigned from the party after feeling bitter about losing in the 2007 presidential primary and being sidelined. However, he was later politically coerced into rejoining the party.

Alan Kyeremanten’s announcement underscores his commitment to addressing the pressing issues facing Ghana, including economic development, job creation, and social welfare. He believes that running as an independent candidate will allow him to better serve the interests of the Ghanaian people, unburdened by the constraints of party politics.

The independent candidacy of Alan Kyeremanten presents a unique challenge to the established political order in Ghana. With his wealth of experience and political clout, he has the potential to reshape the political landscape and introduce a fresh dynamic to the upcoming elections

Alan Kyeremanten’s campaign, which is running under the “Movement for Change” banner and using the slogan “Ghana Will Rise Again,” promises to garner attention and poses concerns about the direction of Ghanaian politics.

All eyes will be on Kyeremanten’s independent campaign as the 2024 elections get closer and the potential impact it may have on the electoral environment. This development is a crucial turning point in Ghanaian politics and will undoubtedly dominate the country’s conversation in the months to come. Keep checking back for more information on this developing political story.
