The Financial Court 2 of the High Court Complex is set to hear an application today, October 11, filed by former Sanitation Minister Cecilia Dapaah. The application pertains to the seizure and freezing order imposed by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).

Cecilia Dapaah, who resigned from her ministerial position amid allegations of corruption, is now seeking legal recourse to challenge the ongoing investigation against her and her husband, Daniel Osei Kufuor. The charges they face are related to suspected corruption and corruption-related offences.

In documents reviewed by happyghana.com, it is revealed that Cecilia Dapaah has also requested the court to compel the OSP to unfreeze her bank accounts, which were frozen during the investigation.

Moreover, Madam Dapaah is seeking a declaration from the court that the reseizure of monies found in her Abelemkpe residence and the subsequent refreezing of her bank accounts are unfair and capricious. She argues that these actions by the OSP go against statutory powers under Act 959 and constitutional provisions as stated in Articles 23 and 296 of the Constitution of 1992.

The former Minister came under public scrutiny in July when it was revealed that two of her housemates were facing charges in an Accra Circuit Court for allegedly stealing substantial sums of money and valuable items amounting to millions of Ghana Cedis. In response to mounting public pressure, Cecilia Dapaah resigned from her ministerial position on July 22, 2023.

Additionally, the same Financial Court 2 is scheduled to hear an application by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) on October 16. The OSP is seeking permission to file a supplementary affidavit to present further evidence against Cecilia Dapaah, further intensifying the legal battle in this high-profile case.
